This week we look at the Midianites and Israel, and at Gideon’s story. We begin as we see that Israel has begun to worship other Gods, and the Midianites have become strong, and have raided Israel every harvest. Israel cries out to God, and God replies by decrying their idolatry. God comes to Gideon, and Gideon tears down his father’s idols, then goes against the Midianite camp. As we contrast what Gideon saw of himself, and how God greeted him, we see that it is His work in us that lets us fulfill God’s plans.
