The Series on Romans

Romans-Word-Cloud

1st Century Rome and 21st Century America are historically, politically, militarily, financially, religiously, culturally, and morally very much alike. One was quite literally structured to look
like the other. We live in a world system, with a world philosophy and a world view the recipients of Paul’s original letter would have recognized.

What would the apostle Paul say to someone living in our culture? Would it sound anything like “from faith – to faith – by faith”?

Grace and Truth

John 1:14

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father full of grace and truth . . .

What does it mean to be full of grace and truth?

Most of us lean towards one or the other. Is the quest of the life of the disciple of Jesus Christ to find a balance between grace and truth as if they were opposing forces, or are we to be filled with both grace and truth understanding that it is impossible to have one without the other?

The Feasts

God was painting a picture. The Sabbath was the canvas. The seven “feasts of the Lord” were the colors. These Feasts are a picture of God’s redemptive plan – restoration and fellowship with
God – dwelling with God.

The Israelites were supposed to practice, with all their senses, these Feasts time after time – year after year. So that when, as Colossians 2:17 says, the substance, the reality, the actual body of those shadows – appeared – they would recognize Him – Jesus, the Messiah, the Savior, the One of whom the Feasts prophesied, the One they proclaimed.

The Feasts were prophetic, but have they all been fulfilled?
